The Great Depression, WWII, and Cold War are the landmarks DeWayn uses to navigate through his past. The loss, hardship, and urgency of his family's situation were lost on DeWayn as a child and young adult. DeWayn started his first lucrative job via his father's referral at Lockheed. DeWayn spent ten years in the missile division and worked there during the Cold War. His career continued at IBM, and in tandem, he completed an Economics degree. Dewayn happily married, raised three children and now enjoys his grandchildren. Dewayn is not unfamiliar with the progression of Alzheimer's--he cared for his mother for 11 years. The center provides Dewayn with an outlet; as the unofficial publisher of the Alzheimer's Gazette. Dewayn shares a collection of articles, and cartoons on his weekly visits. The time his wife is allowed to participate in a caregiver’s support group is treasured.
